Alex turned one on July 15th! He still is a little behind in the crawling department but he is doing really good with walking. He is able to walk with the assistance of our hands or a push toy. In the past few days he has started to get comfortable with cruising. Even though I mentioned he is behind with the crawling I don't think he has given up on trying. Just today (7/28) he crawled for the first time. He did it twice only after me taking away all toys with in his reach. I had one toy that he REALLY wanted a few feet away and after a few minutes of crying he moved 3 or 4 knee/hand combos. He also ended up on his stomach once and used his legs to push him forward a few feet (in a face plow kind of crawl). So slowly but surely I think he is going to be a crawler before he walks completely independently.
He is also getting really interested in 'things'! He is in love with a cup full of pencil and pens we have on the desk. That can easily keep him busy for 15 minutes. He is starting to open cabinets and loves pulling out all the contents! Basically, he is becoming a toddler!! What fun!!!!
I think this will be the last month I take the picture of him with the giraffe. He was 29 inches at his last check up. He only weighed 18 lbs 1 oz - he is off the charts on weight but the doctors are not concerned. He is really starting to take to eating food with his hands so I'm hopeful he will start to pack on the weight. I think he is also really happy to be done with formula. I'm still giving him a bottle but I'm hoping to make that next weeks task to ween him off it.

Pete and I spent our first night away from Alex at the end of June. We got a hotel down in Buckhead and enjoyed a nice dinner. It was really nice to spend time with each other again. Alex had fun with his cousins down in Newnan! Thanks Lisa and Tim!!!!
